Hawkinge House is a brand new development from Graham Care Ltd. It will be the sixth home owned by the group and their third establishment in Kent.
The first phase of the development will provide accommodation for 90 residents with significant care needs in studioandone bedroom suites which can be rented or bought outright.
The development will be divided into three social groups for physical frailty and various types of dementia/mental illness. Working age adults will be catered for as well as older people. Full 24 hour nursing care will be available for all residents, so that they can havea home for life within thescheme. Residents' spouses can alsobe accommodated, so that couples can stay together even when one develops the need for on-going care. This will be very much along the same lines as the model already working extremely well at Graham Care's Hailsham House near Eastbourne and Cornford House near Tunbridge Wells.
One of the philosophy's at the heart of Graham Care is to provide relationship-centred care. At Hawkinge, as well as fostering and nuturing relationships between residents, their family and friends and the healthcare professionals who work in and visit the home, a community day centre will be used to nuture relationships between the residents and local villagers.
We believe in supporting our residents' right to choose, and so we offer a choice of renting or buying (on a lease-hold basis) which allows our residents the freedom to spend their individual budgets in a highly personalised way. This is a departure from more traditional models but we believe that this is what our residents and their families want.
